Petrobras hires vessels for the platform readiness campaign in the amount of R$ 1.2 billion

1st of August 2025

Vessels will support maintenance and readiness activities for the decommissioning of fixed platforms in sea basins in the Northeast.

Petrobras has signed contracts for chartering and providing nautical operation and hotel services for two Liftboat type self-elevating vessels, in the amount of R$ 1.2 billion. These vessels will support maintenance and readiness operations of fixed platforms that will be decommissioned in the Sergipe-Alagoas and Rio Grande do Norte-Ceará basins. The commercial agreement, resulting from a bidding process, was signed with OOS International B.V., in partnership with Camorim Serviços Marítimos.

The Jin Hua 01 and Jin Hua 02 units will be chartered for a period of three years. The contracts should generate new direct jobs and move the local economy. “With these contracts, Petrobras increases the efficiency of its activities in the decommissioning campaign, speeding up the readiness of the platforms, in addition to improving integrity conditions,” said Petrobras’ Executive Manager of Land and Shallow Waters, Stênio Galvão.

Liftboats are multi-purpose, self-elevating vessels designed to carry crew and equipment, as well as perform maintenance and serve as accommodation for personnel. This type of vessel will bring improvements in logistical support with consequent productivity gains for these activities. The contracted units will operate at depths of up to 48 meters, supporting the maintenance and readiness activities of the platforms that will be decommissioned in the future.
